This Retired Pilot Takes Rescue Animals To Their New Homes In His Two-Person Italian Plane

When we were kids, adults used to tell us that storks carry kids to awaiting parents. However, have you ever heard of rescue animals being flown to their new homes in a plane? If not, this story is for you. David Tan, a 40-year-old from Middleton, Wisconsin, does exactly that.

He has been doing this since 2012. Since then, he has flown over 360 dogs, 23 cats, goats, pigs, and even a bat.

David has taken up flying lessons since he was in high school. When he was 18, he managed to get his private pilot license. David states that flying planes was the one thing he was good at and that he has never faced any accidents while flying a plane.

For the past 15 years, he has been working as a rescue helicopter with the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Now, he uses the same plane that he used to train at the beginning of his career. This plane is called Gina and it even has his name on the side.

David came across a non-profit named Pilots N Paws in an aviation trade magazine. The goal of this non-profit is to save animal lives. Through Pilots N Paws, volunteer pilots and plane owners who will help with transporting, arranging, or scheduling rescue flights, overnight foster care, etc are united.
