A few days ago, Hollywood megastar Johnny Depp won his defamation suit against Amber Heard, his ex-wife. Following his win, his fans are demanding Disney and Warner Bros. apologize to him in public.
The court proceedings went on for about 12 hours over three days. At last, the jury found in favor of Depp. Following this, the actor received $10 million and $5 million in compensatory damages and punitive damages respectively. However, in Virginia, punitive damages are limited to $350,000 by law. Amber Heard, aged 36, was also awarded $2 million for damages in her $100 million countersuits, by the jury.

Following Heard’s domestic violence accusations against Depp, Disney and Warner Bros. officially fired Depp from the Pirates of the Caribbean and Fantastic Beasts franchises. This was, needless to say, a major blow for the actor’s career.
Following Depp’s split with Heard and his libel case against The Sun, Warner Bros. asked him to resign from Gellert Grindelwald, his role in Fantastic Beasts. He was replaced by Mads Mikkelsen.
Heard Published An Op-ed Against Depp In The Washington Post
In 2019, The Washington Post published an op-ed against Depp. This was written by Heard who addressed herself as a ‘public figure representing domestic abuse’.
Following this, Depp started losing roles and his career has suffered blow after blow, despite his timeless and unforgettable contributions to the film industry.
Can you imagine a Pirates of the Caribbean movie where Depp isn’t playing Jack Sparrow? There’s no doubt that the character of Jack Sparrow became legendary as it was played by Depp. In his testimony, Depp stated that he is of the opinion that the reason for his removal from the massive franchise was the accusations made by Heard.
