Locals Create Statue In Honor Of City’s Beloved Cat At His Favorite Spot

Turkey sits between East and West drawing antique and contemporary elements from both cultures to produce its own unique blend. To reverberate its beauty even more, there was once a celebrity cat who taught people who loved her to relax and enjoy life.

This famous cat named Tombili is no longer of this world but his memory is still honored and preserved by his enormous fanbase. There aren’t many who knows of his story exactly. Interestingly, his path to fame hardly had any obstacles. His lackadaisical behavior on the streets made him an instant sensation on the Internet for many years.

Relaxing on the walls and sidewalks in the neighborhood was all he did all day but his aura was inescapable. Although he didn’t have a real home, he was much cared for and adored by the townspeople. Judging by the size of his belly, there’s no doubt that he had a consistent supply of delicious meals.

He became the mascot and the symbol of the city as he reminded the passers-by of something that seem to slowly drift away from society – to find and appreciate little moments of relaxation, tranquility, and peace. He suddenly passed away due to an illness, leaving the entire city heartbroken.

Though he left the world, his fans weren’t ready to let go of his memory. People left notes and signs reminiscing his memory on his favorite bench on the sidewalk. As a result, a petition with 17,000 signatures led to the building of a bronze statue in honor of Tombili on his favorite spot that made him super famous. Even his emblematic pose was meticulously replicated to make the statue felt more alive.

Up to this day, the Tombili statue remains in the streets of the city spreading a message of positivity among people.
