No matter who you become, what you do, there’s always a pack of haters behind you. Like Timothy Ferriss said, “The best way to counter-attack haters is to make it blatantly obvious that their attack has no impact on you.” And that’s exactly what this 56-year-old influencer did to her haters.
We all have our areas of interest. Lonnie Pike is an influencer who’s over 50 years and her interests aren’t aligned with others of her age. With a fresh way of dressing, tattoos, and positive vibes, she spreads an important message: no matter who you are, how you look, just be yourself.
On her mission “to explore the world with laughter and a never-ending smile,” she’s not afraid to live the life she wants despite what her haters have to say. With over 375.7k followers on Tiktok and over 29K followers on her Instagram page, hate comments aren’t entirely new to her.
After someone wrote her “you’re too old to dress like a teenager”, she decided to make her voice heard, not to get back at the person who left the comment, but to motivate others to not be swayed by such stereotypes.
Her smashing response video where she was dressed up in cute little jeans, and a tucked-in t-shirt – in honor of “like a teenager” – was watched 1.8M times just like her inspirational words deserved. Scroll down to see what she said.
Here’s what she said, “I generally don’t respond to these kinds of comments, because they don’t affect me. But they are capable of planting seeds of doubt in the minds of many people. This makes them unable to dress the way they want. In his honor, I dress like a teenager. This is my outfit for today. Wear what you want!”.
Lonni got her first tattoo when she was 30. “I was in a bad marriage and we were separated for a time. I got barbed wire around my ankle because I felt trapped and helpless. This was the beginning of my journey to let the real me out and be who I wanted to be,” she explained.
Despite others’ perceptions of her life, she lives the life she wanted inspiring many women across the world. “I have a great job, I carry myself as the professional I am and considered one of the tops in my field so no, I don’t think there is anything negatively impacted.”
Her unique way of thinking, her straightforward personality, and the positive message she endeavors to outspread have garnered wide popularity. Whether or not everyone admits it, her message is indeed a powerful one. Society might judge you on your age, gender identity, wealth, and everything else that they see. But, the choice of whether to accept others’ perception of you or not, is up to you.
